Pins or Needles

"Which path are you taking?" asked the Wolf. "The Path of Pins or the Path of Needles?"

"My father told me to stay on the Path of Pins." said Riding Hood.

"Oh, but the Path of Needles is so much faster. Don't you want to deliver your goods before they become cold?"

Little Red Riding Hood thought about this. Her father had told her to stay on the Path of Pins, but the Wolf had surely been in the forest for a very long time and probably knew his way around. Wolves tended to know the way of the forest, after all. So she agreed, thanked the Wolf for the advice and began her way down the Path of Needles, even collecting some as she wandered deeper into the trees.

After watching her leave, the Wolf ran as fast as it could down the Path of Pins, which had indeed been the shortest path to her grandmother's house. Upon getting there, it knocked on the door of the small cottage and killed Red Riding Hood's grandmother.

It poured her blood into a kettle and put it on the stove, then chopped up the body and put it in the cupboard.

It had just finished disguising itself when Little Red Riding Hood knocked on the door.

Knock knock.


Random sketchings for the moment. I saw this really good Rose/Red Riding Hood manip and it got me all thinking about the folktale. Which would Rose be, Red Riding Hood or the Wolf? In the end, it became both.

I love Red Riding Hood. It's a pretty typical story telling you not to trust strangers, but behind the candy coated pages, there's a sick twisted story where a little girl is tricked into eating her own grandmother's body. Every fairy tale usually has a previous version that's been sugar coated into the ones we know today, but Red Riding Hood has to be one of the best.

Makes me want to watch Jin Roh again, really.
